The object in the game of online rummy is to improve one’s hand by forming sets of matching cards such as groups of the same rank or sequences in a suit. Players draw one card from the deck or the discard pile then must discard the same card or one of their own. Although there is some luck involved, Rummy, for the most part, is a game of skill that takes time to master.

Rummy Royal offers a great promotional match bonus for new players. The bonus is credited to a players account in increments of $10 upon accumulating 20 bonus points (bonus point credited for each $1 fee paid by player per game played. A single ring game and a single tourney are each considered one game).

Rummy Royal has 4 versions of online rummy card games:

• Gin Rummy - is a classic skill-based card game that is easy to learn and play. The winner of the game is the first player to dispose of all his cards at once or what is called “Gin”.

Another winning move consists of disposing of all the cards at once with a deadwood count of 10 or less or what is called “Knock”. A player can also win the game by having a deadwood count lower than the Knocker's deadwood count or what is called “Undercut”.

• Oklahoma Gin - is another popular Gin Rummy variant. In this variation, the value of the original face up card determines the maximum count of unmatched cards with which it is possible to knock. Face cards denote 10 as usual. If a seven is turned up you must reduce your count to 7 or fewer in order to knock.

The final score for the deal (including any undercut or gin bonus) is doubled if the original face up card is a spade. The target score for winning Oklahoma Gin is generally set at 150 rather than 100.

• Kalooki (also Kaluki or Kalookie) - is a Rummy game which combines the use of wild cards or Jokers. The Jokers spice up the game, providing players with many opportunities to apply the skill one has acquired. In this Rummy variant, the melds in one's hand must reach a total count of 51 or more in order for them to lay down melds.

The winner is the first player to dispose of all the cards in his hand at once - this is called “Hunt”, or the first player to dispose of all the cards in his hand by gradually melding and building - this is called “Going Out”.

• Traditional Rummy - is similar to the play structure of all the Rummy variants. The winner is the first player to dispose of all the cards in his hand at once or “Going Rummy”. A player can also win the game by being the first player to dispose of all the cards in his hand gradually or “Going Out”.

In this variant there are no restrictions regarding when one is allowed to lay down melds or add matching cards to existing melds. A player can lay down melds or add matching cards to existing ones at any time.
